World’s Youngest Bloggers

It’s funny that our ISP got a hiccup exactly on Christmas day.

So I had to go to a nearby coffee shop just to launch this on time…

http://www.youngestblogger.com

Since it’s Christmas, I wanted to launch something unique that will help other bloggers, young bloggers like me.

It basically ranks bloggers under 18 using 4 ranking factors which is their age (younger the better), Google PR, Technorati and Alexa rank - plus it updates automagically everyday!

Formula

For those curious cats, here’s the formula of how the blogs are ranked…

Age: 20%
Google PR: 25%
Technorati: 30%
Alexa: 25%

Review and vote

Now this is where it gets pretty. We’ve added a spiffy, review and vote function wherein you can review the blog and rate it from 1 to 5 to help the blogger improve and go a long way.

No “This blog sucks.” reviews there, the main goal is to improve the young bloggers so we review each comment thoroughly.

Still Not There Yet

We are on the 20’s mark - it’s still a long way to complete the goal of top 100 list so I need your help on this one, click here if you are below 18 and blogging. If you’re not, then add someone you know that is under 18 and blogging.

Check it out here…

How To Get A TKO Win In Your Business

Last Sunday, our national pride, Manny Pacquiao humiliated the so called “dream match” by putting De La Hoya into a nightmare with his accurate punching and outstanding footwork…

And I was there to watch it on the big screen - live. I had to get up 7 AM on a Sunday morning just to watch the fight though but it’s totally worth it.

Before the fight, there were about 3 HBO special series about Pacman and the Golden Boy’s training camp, what they do and who they are training with.

This is what I noticed that accounts for Pacquiao’s vicious victory…

  • De La Hoya’s trainer, Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain is 69 years old and assistant trainer, Angelo Dundee (Former trainer of Ali) is 87 years old
  • Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach is much younger, 48 years old

Yes, De La Hoya’s team got the experience, wisdom and all the tactics to win - in the 70’s.

Things have changed.

It’s 2008 and we got new methods, new techniques and new technology to train for the fight. Freddie Roach was aware of that.

A stinging straight, duck and dodge - those were the weapons trainer Roach equipped Manny to take advantage of the flaw he spotted in De La Hoya’s defense.

Not only that, De La Hoya’s team was busy managing his weight, worried to pay the $3,000,000 penalty for every excess pound - while on Pacquiao’s camp, they’re busy training and preparing the pound-for-pound champion.

Think about it, many of the CEO’s of big companies nowadays are younger. Young people are more aware of technology and most probably can multi-task better. Young people are open to new ideas. Young people do not fear scarcity…

So here’s what I think to get superior results in your business. Get the wisdom of the older ones and apply using the techniques and methods of the younger.

Tips On How To Launch Your Blog Successfully

This article is guest posted by Ganesh from Blog Smartly.

If you’ve ever started a Wordpress blog before, you know how it feels. Its exciting to launch a new blog. Most of you jump when you get that inspiration and start your new blog right away. Slow down. You need to prepare well in advance before launching your blog. Here are some tips on how to make your blog launch successful.

Map Your Goals

Think. Ask yourself why you are starting the blog. What are your goals? Do you want to make money? How much time are you going to spend on your blog? Ask yourself all these questions. Goals are very important for achieving milestones. Just breakdown bigger goals into smaller ones and challenge yourself to accomplish them within a period of time. Its better to write them down in a notebook or something. Take some time to write some articles for your blog well in advance.

Blog Design

The blog design is the most important aspect of a blog. It has to look attractive and professional. Take some time to check out good theme or get a custom theme designed for your blog. Get all the logos, gravatars, favicons, banners ready so that you can promote your blog effectively. A well designed blog stands out to the visitor.

Use a Domain Parking Theme

It is best to install Wordpress as soon as you get the domain. If you just leave your domain as it is, your domain company would will turn it into an ad farm. Install the Launchpad theme for Wordpress. It is a domain parking theme that informs the visitor that the blog is about to launch soon and allows them to subscribe via RSS and email. Its pretty nice and professional too.

Networking

Use networking to get traffic for your blog when it launches. If you’re an active participant in some of the social media sites, then it could be a big plus for you. Although I’m suggesting you to use sites like Twitter and Plurk to promote your site, I don’t recommend using them solely for promoting your blog since that would look spammy. I also recommend using forums for promoting your blog.

I also found out that commenting on other blogs is a great way to promote your site. Remember, the blogosphere is a big community. No blogger is an island. Connect with other bloggers, read and comment on their blogs and they will surely return the favor.

Contests

You know that bloggers hold contests to promote their blogs. So why not hold one before you launch the blog too? After all, it only makes your blog more popular. You can hold a small contest and give away a small prize, lets say $20 cash, one among those who subscribe to your blog so that it creates some buzz. You can use forums to spread the word about your contest.

Conclusion

If all this sounds like nonsense, let me sum up everything you need to know - Plan well and launch your blog in a professional way. Leverage the power of social media sites to promote your site. Impress your visitors and convert them into loyal readers.

All the best!

5 Tips To Grow Search Engine Traffic To Your Blog

This article is guest posted by Hendry Lee.

No matter what others have said about natural search engine traffic, it is a significant traffic source for many bloggers. Some blogger friends admit that search engines account for 30 - 60 percent of their entire blog traffic.

It is possible and recommended to diversify and avoid relying your business solely on one traffic source — and company, Google. However, search engine traffic converts and if you can get more of them to your site, and assuming everything is the same, you will increase the sales figures and revenue from ads.

The details about how search engine works may be beyond most of us — in search engines don’t reveal their exact algorithm — but the basic is not rocket science at all.

Here are 5 tips to help you grow search engine traffic. (If you are interested to learn more about SEO, I have a complete article series of blog SEO.

1. Know your keywords

Keywords are the building blocks of a blog and web site. Naturally, you should target just one keyword per blog post. Avoid creating content just for the sake of having the keyword on your blog. You should provide valuable content and impress the visitors. Only then will they consider subscribing to your content feed.

You should be thinking about what the visitors do on your site. Optimizing the result from the same amount of traffic is as important, if not more. But, I digress…

2. Optimize your blog design

You will be surprised that many bloggers claim their blog themes or templates as search engine friendly because the themes were advertised as such. Spend some time to check the template to make sure it has the right title tag, order of content, heading tags and so on.

Your time will be well spent. After all, it is most likely a one-time task. It may make a difference between ranking for long tail keywords and not getting found at all.

3. Restructure your site

Theming with silos is a great way to structure and divide your blog content into subtopics. Many SEO experts represent siloing as simple tiered content. They are quite similar in a few points but nevertheless you should thinking about making your content topics obvious to search engines.

Tiered content without proper linking doesn’t help build topic on your site. For instance, you should only link to a silo (or parent) instead of children cross another silo. Good practice avoids diluting the theme of your site or blog.

That can help rankings because once search engines think your blog is related to certain subtopic, you are going to get more long tail keywords for that subtopic.

4. Gain inbound links

There is more than one way to do it, from article marketing to link baiting, blog commenting, forum marketing and so on. When you are just starting out, every little tactic matters to grow your traffic level to a few hundreds a day.

Your aim is to reach more center of influence. Once you are at this level, every new post will result in a few more backlinks to your blog.

5. Patience

As the age of your domain increases, your blog will also be considered more valuable, especially if you keep it active throughout the time.

Search engine optimization doesn’t produce flood of traffic immediately but it is often worth the effort. Giving up too early in the process is one of the biggest reasons why people fail at this.

Another thing to keep in mind is that traffic from organic search grows gradually. As you target more keywords within your content and gain more authority through backlinks, you will only grow your traffic.

You may be surprised that after several years, I still notice growth in traffic to some of my blogs from search engines. It helps if you aim for the long haul and really drill deep in a niche, because that’s what a real business is.

How I Doubled My Money Overnight With Forex

Before I start this article, I would like to tell ya that you need to be at least 18 to enter the foreign exchange market. What I did was I tried tinkering around using my dad’s account and played with him by my side.

In the last two days, I have big eyes open to this nifty platform by eToro. Results thus far were entertaining…

I have ZERO knowledge with Forex when I found out bout this platform - so this article should be treated as a documentary, not an expert advice. Don’t complain to me that you lost money, ya da, ya da. My dad told me this is a dangerous area to make money.

Even before I started this blog and my internet ventures, I was very curious about this stock market thing and buying currencies then selling it later on (Forex). I did a lil research bout it here and there but just this last 2 days was I able to actually, test it out hands on.

Good thing is, eToro doesn’t want ya to lose real money right away. Instead, they offer a practice account with $2,000 virtual cash. On that account, you can practice and test currencies, explore the platform or - just have fun.

You *Can* Be Richie Rich Today, Tomorrow You *Might* Be Fred Flintstones

That is definitely possible. Even if you have 20 years experience in the foreign exchange markets, your profits are not guaranteed.

So take my advice…

“Never enter the real money trading if you haven’t generated consistent profits with your practice account”

Read that 3 times everytime you open the platform on your computer - you’ll thank me for that in the future.

How I Doubled My Money Overnight With ZERO Knowledge In The Past

  1. Downloaded and installed the trading platform (Click here to download)
  2. Read the step-by-step manual provided upon sign-up
  3. Searched for Forex forecasts and based my trades on it and observed the trends
  4. After doubling my virtual cash, opened my real account and started some real trading!

Meh, that was almost as easy as 1, 2, 3! Anyhow, I suggest ya give it a try BUT don’t use the money you are not ready to lose.

Just give me a shout in the comments if you have any questions and hopefully, someone will try it out and post his results over here.

The Godfather Uses This Persuasion Tactic

Last week, our business and entrepreneurship class had an exposure trip to a new culinary arts school called Enderun.

It was inside on one of the top villages in our country. Upon arrival, we were instructed to greet everyone we see and behave in proper decorum, heh.

“Use the stairs over here.” A lady with ravishing accent loudly exclaimed.

That caught all of our attention so we dashed off and followed the lady. She then led us to a room with a “professionalish” ambiance.

“G’dang!” something caught my eye. On the table ahead lies piles of chocolate danish and pitchers of ice tea. The first thing that popped in my mind was that they’ll give it to us pronto as welcome compliments. Instead, they gave us school flyers and survey forms.

After that? Nope, they still didn’t gave the danishes - but started talking about their school and what they have to offer.

A few minutes later, the discussion ended and at last, it was danish time.

2 waiters distributed the danish around the room and another one distributed the drinks.

Suddenly, the lady started talking again “Guys, if you don’t mind, can you fill out the survey form that we gave awhile ago?”

We politely complied and all forms were properly filled up - which doesn’t happen often in our school :-D

The Ethic Of Reciprocity

Having a top notch school like that, it didn’t surprise me that they’ve “persuaded” us to fill out those forms. You see, what they did there was to leverage the human desire to reciprocate.

Admit it, we always have the urge to payback anyone - even we hate or love him. It’s the golden rule. I’m sure this was just discovered maybe a couple of decades ago but as always, it’s already written in the Bible…

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

- Matthew 7:12

Another story that I’ve read in Cialdini’s book called the “Psychology of Persuasion” is about a church group who gives a flower necklace to people at the airport then asks for a donation - and they almost always got it.

After awhile, people were avoiding them because they cannot fight the urge to reciprocate even with the smallest things.

Apply It On Your Business

It’s the golden rule so it can be applied on whatever stuff ya want! For example, giving a simple report before selling to your readers or list, mentioning others in a post, etc. be creative.

You can start today just by helping anyone who’s in need and worry about the exchange later. Like what Vito Corleone does - just don’t kill em’ if they don’t reciprocate ;-)

P.S. Note that proper timing also counts. Look what Enderun did. With proper timing, the unthinkable happens.

What Does It Take To Make You Subscribe To A Blog?

Just in case you’re not a reader of John Chow (Haha, that felt good - kiddin!), my article was posted there a week ago titled…

What Does It Take To Make You Subscribe To A Blog?

Basically, on that post I asked JC’s readers on what aspects of a blog that make them subscribe. As the one who asked the question, I started the conversation by giving my 4 reasons.

The response was to my expectation, it currently has 70 comments and pumped my RSS subscribers 200+.

The idea here is to collect the answers given by the readers and compile them in a monstrous list that will give bloggers the aspects to work on to make people subscribe to a blog.

Read the post and comment here if you’ve got something to add.

How To Start A Photography Business?

This post is sponsored by Photography Business Mastery and posted by Charles Lau.

Photography business can mean a lot of different meanings.  You can do wedding photographs, magazine photographs, product shots, executive head shots, annual reports, websites, advertising, and so much more.  So long as you have a camera at hand, you are ready to receive money from people who wants your help in taking photographs of themselves in different environments.

Photography Niche

This very interesting niche I am reviewing today is to teach you how to start a photography business.  I seriously believe that there is a need for such an education even if you are a good photographer.  So what if you know how to take good photography but you are totally clueless in bringing in the business you need so that you can show off your skills?  That’s where the President of Photography Business Mastery, Bruce Bennett, is here to show you how.

A good photographer needs the business instinct to bring in the entrepreneurship in them to earn a decent living.  If Bruce is able to show you how to make $1000 per week, that is as good as doing your favorite as a full time job.  Of course, I will like to realistically think that we will have to work really hard to achieve that kind of result.  With a directive guide for you to follow closely, I don’t think you will have to spend too much time trying all the unproven techniques to bring in the money.

It’s a Sales Letter

When I first took up this review to write about a website which is teaching you how to make money from photography, I have a great feeling that this website has probably a good conversion rate.  I was surfing around this sales letter talking about photography business, I feel that Bruce is doing a good job in setting up his website this way.  It shows a profile photo of himself with a camera on the right, and he has quite a lot of live testimonials with their real email addresses shown.

Whenever I encounter such a sales letter, I do try to read the lengthy contents as much as I could.  And it always seems that they never fail to speak about quality information that I wish to know about.  Even though I felt really impatient reading through all the contents thoroughly, I just felt tempted to buy this product myself.  And the bad news is that Bruce had not offered his product for me to review further for all of you. :(

Gold membership includes all the following products

By ordering through this sales letter, you will be given the gold membership which provides you with all the following products:

  1. Lucrative Photography Markets
  2. How to Run A Successful Photography Business
  3. Essential Photography Techniques
  4. The Ultimate Million $$$ Marketing Expert
  5. Photography Power-Points
  6. Photography Website Marketing Strategies
  7. Photography Pro-Formas
  8. Professionally Designed Photography Website Templates
  9. Email Marketing Consultation Certificate
  10. And Two Other Additional Bonuses!

All the e-manuals that you are seeing above are individually jam-packed with a lot of information.  It is as good as buying one book to read and learn from it.  How I wish I could get my hands on those books to review them further for all of you. :P

With Your Photography Skills

In fact, photography is the best combination of skills to make money online.  With the right photography skills and tuned to suit the commercial needs, you can set up an Internet business which is suitable for your target market.  And with the right pricing (I saw it in one of the books’ table of contents), you will keep the money rolling in with a suitable market value that the target market is willing to pay for.

Conclusion

Photography business can be a really tempting business to start with.  With some interest in taking photographs, you may be thinking of using this little weapon to make your money.  However, every business comes with your time and effort that you are willing to invest in.  Generally speaking, you have to perservere through the business which you really want to focus on.  Or else, it may not work in the end.  Like any other business, with all the tools and information placed in front of you, if you are not putting in only 10% effort, you should be seeing 10% result in the end.  Hence, if you are willing to take up this business, put in all your heart and soul to make it a success!

The Blog Theme That Almost Always Made Me Money

Imagine this…

What if you could, hire a world-class designer who would create an amazing WordPress theme that makes almost certain you have the best combination of a Google friendly site, optimized advertising income, and chic design in your blog?

All these for less than $100?

Only a dream? Before probably, but something kicks off today…

Ultimate Blogging Theme

When I first started my blog, I was prowling the web like you - searching for the “perfect” WordPres theme that would combine…

  • A Google friendly design
  • Optimal advertising placements
  • Easy navigation
  • And an eye-grabbing look

After tons of hours spent, it struck me - that perfect WordPress theme was non-existent. So what I did was I crafted my own blog theme.

I flip open my laptop and started firing Photoshop. My PHP knowledge was a bit crude though so I outsourced the coding…

That was the birth of Ultimate Blogging Theme.

The Process

I’ve been asked tons of times “Carl, can I download your theme?” I’ve refused them all due to the fact that I’ve paid for the coding myself and I don’t want this theme to be used by anyone.

But those guys kept me thinking, what could be my loss if I release my theme for public? What could be my gains? Turns out, those repeated questions convinced me.

Basically, UBT or Ultimate Blogging Theme is the CarlOcab.com WordPress theme. Improvised and modeled for every blogger (It took me quite sometime to connect the dots though so that should excuse me for the lack of posts :-P)
